(Spring begins February 1st in Ireland - making more sense than having the first day of spring on March 21st, four days before Summer time begins and the clocks go forward on March 25th!)

February 1st

February 1st, the day my daughter Jane was born. Rightly so I thought - the first day of Spring. Or so I thought until I said so to anyone in the UK and they looked at me as if I had two heads. And this is how I discovered that Ireland and England have very differnent calendars. The Irish calendar has February 1st as the first day of spring - the day my daughter Jane was born. Rightly so, I say!
