Escalator Question

You are waiting for a train. You hear a scream. You look round and people are looking up. You look to see two older people tumbling down the up escalator.

What do you do?

I ... being the unthinking girlscout that I can be...raced past the gawping by-standers (with the sound of the theme tune from Raiders of the Lost Ark ringing in my ears) and took two steps at a time up the escalator to grab hold and lift the woman into a standing position just in time for the escalator to stop dead. Someone else had had the brainwave to press the emergency button! The term 'fools rush in' comes to mind.
